The winner was announced in September at the HIA Eastern Victoria Regional Housing Awards held at the Mercure Portsea Resort, before a crowd of local industry leaders and peers from across the Eastern Victoria region.
Overlooking the vines of the Mornington Peninsula, this stunning single storey home has been built with flawless attention to detail and a consideration to the local environment.
Drawing from the striking beauty of its location, this home engages a perfect combination of earth and wood.
Ticking all the boxes, the home features four large double bedrooms with ensuites, a theatre, wine room, large living room with stunning granite stone open fireplace, study, kids retreat and extensive garaging for vehicles and other machinery.
A house that “incorporates state-of-the-art technologies into a seamless result,” the judges praised. “The workmanship and attention to detail is exceptional,” they added.
A stand out feature of the home includes the 40 degree pitched ceilings that are perfectly lined with black butt hardwood timber and tastefully matched with walls of hand laid granite stone, mined from a local quarry – described by the judges as ‘faultless!’
With no mains water or sewage, the home is self-sufficient and includes two 100,000 litre water tanks, a sewage treatment plant, solar hot water system and bottled gas.
“This house has almost a full complement of sustainable features and is built to a BAL 29 fire rating,” the judges commented.
Designed by John Matyas and with the clients’ intention to stay in the home through their twilight years, the home subtly incorporates wide hallways and doorways plus large bathrooms for easy living.
HIA Victorian Executive Director Gil King congratulated the team at COJACK Developments and all Award winners.
“The HIA Eastern Victoria Regional Housing Awards this year were again extremely competitive. All winners and finalists should be proud to have reached the heights of building standards demonstrated in these quality homes” said Mr. King.
COJACK Developments will now go on to compete against other Custom Built Homes from around the state at the 2016 HIA CSR Victoria Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards, to be held in November at Crown Towers in Melbourne.
